Privacy Policy

CLOViZ Inc. establishes the following privacy policy regarding the handling of personal information in the services provided on this website.

Article 1 (Personal Information)

"Personal information" refers to "personal information" as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan; namely, information about a living individual that can identify a specific individual by name, date of birth, address, phone number, contact details, and other descriptions contained in the information, as well as data related to appearance, fingerprints, voiceprints, and information that can identify a specific individual by itself such as a health insurance card number.

Article 2 (Collection of Personal Information)

We may ask users to provide personal information such as name, date of birth, address, phone number, email address, bank account number, credit card number, and driver's license number when they register to use our services. We may also obtain transaction records that include users' personal information and payment information from our partners (including information providers, advertisers, and ad delivery destinations; hereinafter collectively referred to as "Partners").

Article 3 (Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information)

We collect and use personal information for the following purposes:

  1. To provide and operate our services
  2. To respond to user inquiries (including verifying identity)
  3. To send emails about new features, updates, campaigns, and other services provided by us
  4. To contact users when necessary for maintenance and important notices
  5. To identify users who violate the terms of use or attempt to use the service for fraudulent or improper purposes, and to refuse their use
  6. To allow users to view, change, or delete their registration information and to view their usage status
  7. To charge users fees in paid services
  8. For purposes incidental to the above

Article 4 (Change of Purpose of Use)

We may change the purpose of use of personal information only when it is reasonably deemed to be related to the purpose before the change.

When the purpose of use is changed, we will notify users of the changed purpose by the method we prescribe or announce it on this website.

Article 5 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

We will not provide personal information to third parties without obtaining prior consent from users, except in the following cases or when permitted under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws and regulations.

  1. When it is necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the user's consent

  2. When it is particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound growth of children and it is difficult to obtain the user's consent

  3. When it is necessary to cooperate with a national or local government agency, or a person entrusted by them, in performing duties prescribed by law, and obtaining the user's consent may impede the execution of such duties

  4. When the following matters have been announced or made public in advance and we have notified the Personal Information Protection Commission

    • That the purpose of use includes provision to third parties
    • The items of data to be provided to third parties
    • The means or method of provision to third parties
    • That the provision of personal information to third parties will be stopped upon the user's request
    • The method of accepting the user's request

Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, the recipient of personal information will not be deemed a third party in the following cases:

  1. When we entrust the handling of personal information in whole or in part within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use
  2. When personal information is provided due to business succession caused by a merger or other reason
  3. When personal information is jointly used with a specific person and we have notified the user in advance, or have made it easily accessible to the user, of the items of personal information to be jointly used, the scope of joint users, the purpose of use by the joint users, and the name or title of the person responsible for managing the personal information

Article 6 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

When a user requests disclosure of personal information, we will disclose it without delay. However, we may refuse disclosure, in whole or in part, if it falls under any of the following, and we will notify the user without delay if a decision not to disclose is made. A handling fee of JPY 1,000 will be charged per request when disclosing personal information.

  1. If disclosure is likely to harm the life, body, property, or other rights or interests of the user or a third party
  2. If disclosure is likely to seriously impede our proper business operations
  3. If disclosure would violate other laws or regulations

Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, we will not disclose, in principle, information other than personal information such as history information and characteristic information.

Article 7 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

If a user's personal information held by us is incorrect, the user may request correction, addition, or deletion (collectively, "Correction") in accordance with the procedures we specify.

If we determine that it is necessary to respond to a user's request, we will promptly perform the Correction.

When we have carried out a Correction based on the preceding paragraph, or when we have decided not to perform a Correction, we will notify the user without delay.

Article 8 (Suspension of Use of Personal Information)

If a user requests suspension or deletion of the use of personal information (collectively, "Suspension") on the grounds that the information is handled beyond the scope of the stated purpose of use or has been obtained by improper means, we will promptly conduct the necessary investigation.

If we determine, based on the investigation result, that it is necessary to respond to the request, we will promptly perform the Suspension.

When we have carried out a Suspension based on the preceding paragraph, or when we have decided not to perform a Suspension, we will notify the user without delay.

If the Suspension would require a large amount of expense or is otherwise difficult to implement, and alternative measures can be taken to protect the user's rights and interests, we will implement such alternative measures.

Article 9 (Changes to the Privacy Policy)

We may change the contents of this policy without notifying users, except as otherwise provided by laws or in this policy.

Unless otherwise specified by us, the revised privacy policy shall take effect when it is posted on this website.
